Voting in 2019 Rockingham Council Elections

VOTING in Rockingham local council elections

It appears that many candidates support keeping Point Peron as public open space however we can’t choose them all so we have to be strategic.

In Rockingham /Safety Bay Ward there are 18 candidates running but only 3 seats available therefore voters in this Ward get to choose and vote for three candidates.

In Baldivis Ward there are 8 candidates running but only 2 seats available therefore voters in this Ward get to choose and vote for two candidates.

In Comet Bay Ward there are 4 candidates running but only 1 seat available therefore voters in the Ward get to choose and vote for just one candidate.

We are recommending a very limited number of candidates because it is important that we do not dilute the Point Peron vote.

While many candidates who haven’t made our list are strong supporters of our campaign to protect Point Peron, unfortunately that in itself is not enough given the limited number of seats available in each Ward.

We are in no way suggesting that candidates who don’t get recommend by us aren’t excellent candidates, BUT this campaign must focus on the single issue of Point Peron.

How you vote in the Rockingham Council elections is entirely up to you however if you would like to know who we think would be best for Point Peron here are our recommendations

For Rockingham /Safety Bay Ward – Rae Cottam, Joy Stewart, Craig Buchanan or Andy Burns

For Baldivis Ward – Brett Wormall

For Comet Bay Ward – Lorna Buchan

Make sure you post your ballot so that it arrives before 6:00 pm on election day which is 19 October 2019. You can also deliver it to an electoral officer during office hours to the office of Rockingham local government.
