In November 2015 Hand Off Point Peron Inc. (HOPP) produced and submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) a comprehensive 600 submission against the proposed Metropolitan Region Scheme Amendment 1280/41 designed to facilitate the so-called Mangles Bay Marina.
On Wednesday 8 June 2016 HOPP then spoke at the WAPC committee hearing to expand on their 600 page submission as to why rezoning Point Peron public land for an inland marina and housing estate would be a huge mistake from every angle.
At the June 8 hearing HOPP detailed serious concerns that the WAPC appears to be biased and unable to exercise objectivity and due diligence in relation to this politically directed state government initiative.
HOPP reiterated that the rezoning of this public land to urban is being sought on the basis of false promises. HOPP’s submission explained why approval of this MRS amendment would bring Western Australia’s planning regime into disrepute.
HOPP continued its calls for a Royal Commission into the matter, including the conduct of LandCorp and the WAPC. You can find HOPP presentation and documents provided to WAPC with HOPP oral submission here
